Chairman's Report

It has been active 2015.   In the first half we had three extrodinary Flagship Programs ("2015 Business Forecast Luncheon", "MIT Professor Donald Sadoway talking about Energy Storage", and "Advances in DNA Testing and the Impact on Genealogy and Anthropology" with Bennett Greenspan". The January Business Forecast Luncheon sold out again for the third year. This Fall we two fantastic programs "New Technical Developments at A&M and How to work with Texas A&M" and "Detecting and Deflecting Asteroids on a Collision Course with Earth" with former Astronauts Rusty Schweickart and Ed Lu.  Videos of three of the programs "MIT Professor Donald Sadoway", "Advances in DNA Testing", and "Detecting and Deflecting Asteroids" are available on our website or will be available soon. We have great flagship programs coming up: Jan: "2016 Business Forecast Luncheon", Feb:"Creating and Growing Mustang Engineering" with founder Bill Higgs, April: "Innovations in Education" at the Channel 8 TV studio, and May: "The Future of Freshwater". Be sure to put these events on your calendar.

We have had some fabulous companies come through the MITEF New Venture Clinic since the beginning of 2015 (Luninostics, Rheidiant, Dexmat, AcCell, Orbital Traction, and Metox). After presenting at the MITEF New Venture Clinic,  Dexmat went on to place fifth in the Rice Business Plan Competition in April.

Networking socials were a rousing success with over 120 people attending the March networking social with the Houston Angel Network and IIT Alumni of Greater Houston (Indian Institute of Technology) at Damians. We had over 100 people at the networking social with the Houston Technology Center in June. Our next networking social will be at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston on December 3. Don't miss it.

Organizing all these activities takes time and money. We are looking for volunteers and sponsors to help organize and support our events, so if you are interested in becoming part of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Texas, please contact me at chairman@MITEFtexas.org. Our mission is to have a significant and positive impact on the Houston Community with inspiring programs and events on technology, entrepreneurship, and economics.

We look forward to seeing you at our programs and networking socials this fall and beyond.

Best Regards.
Dr. David R. Hansen
