Commercialization at the Edge ...

September 22, 2010
5:15 PM - 8:30 PM

The Houston Technology Center
410 Pierce Street
Houston, TX 77002

The universities of the UH System are infusing the Gulf Coast region with highly qualified talent and innovative ideas, particularly in the growing markets of energy and health. An important third element - Commercialization - is necessary to fully capitalize on these assets.

Our moderator, former president of Shell Chemicals, Lane Sloan, will lead an exploration into the nature of developments emerging from UofH, and the options for commercialization. He will be joined by panelists, Dr. Kathryn Peek, Assistant Vice President for University Health Initiatives, and T.J. Wainerdi, Special Assistant to the Provost for UH Energy.

Peek and Wainerdi will present and discuss such locally developed innovations as:
• microRNA therapies
• devices for reducing myopia progression
• non-invasive sensors for remote monitoring of human cardiac output
• superconducting wind power
• low-cost efficient solar energy, and
• technologies to avoid ultra-deep water drilling hazards.

We look forward to see you at this insightful presentation.

Advance Registration is highly Recommended
